Cloudflare offers top-of-the-line security services. The process for signing up for Cloudflare is relatively straightforward, but to use its security services on your domain takes a few steps and some investment. However, the peace of mind provided make it well worth it in the end.

How To Add Domains in Cloudflare

In this article, we’ll show you how to get your domain protected by Cloudflare.

How to Add a Domain in Cloudflare on a PC

Before you add a domain to Cloudflare, you’ll need to create a Cloudflare account and purchase a domain. If you haven’t created a domain yet, Cloudflare offers domain services through its registrar. There are three steps you need to complete to add your domain to Cloudflare on a PC.

Adding Your Domain

  1. On your Cloudflare dashboard, find Add site on the top taskbar. Enter the root domain, then select “Add site.”
  2. You’ll need to choose a plan for your domain. There are four types: “Free,” “Pro,” “Business,” and “Enterprise. Then select “Get Started”.
  3. Once you choose your plan, Cloudflare will automatically scan your DNS records. These records are the root domain name, subdomain records, and email records. If you don’t have these, an error will occur and you’ll have to manually add the records, then select “Continue.”
  4. Select “Done, check nameservers.”

Setting Up Your DNS Configuration

  1. On your Dashboard, go to the “Overview” tab.
  2. Look for “Replace with Cloudflare nameservers.”
  3. Copy the two domain names under “Replace with Cloudflare nameservers.”
  4. Disable DNSSEC on your domain name by pressing “Cancel setup”

Adding SSL/TSL Protections

  1. Open “SSL/TLS” bar.
  2. Enable the “Toggle” in SSL/TLS Recommender. In 24 hours, you’ll receive an email when your domain is active on Cloudflare. Once you select your edge certificate, you’ll need to select your encryption method for visitors and your origin server. The recommended method is the SSL method.

Your domain is now fully registered and using Cloudflare.

How to Add a Domain in Cloudflare on an iPhone

Accessing your Cloudflare dashboard is only available through a browser. You can access Safari on your iPhone, then follow these steps.

Select “Get Started”.
  3. Once you choose your plan, Cloudflare will automatically scan your DNS records. These records are the root domain name, subdomain records, and email records. If you don’t have these, an error will occur and you’ll have to manually add the records, then select “Continue.”
  4. Select “Done, check nameservers.” Your domain will receive two authoritative nameservers. You will need to replace your old ones with Cloudflare alternatives.
