Staying logged in to your Twitter account at all times is convenient if you use the app daily. However, you might’ve logged in to Twitter on a public computer or your friend’s phone. In that case, for security and privacy reasons, it’s best to log out once you’re done.

How To Log Out of Twitter on a PC or Mobile Device

If you’re unsure how to go about this, you’ve come to the right place. Keep reading to learn how to log out of Twitter, regardless of your device.

How to Log Out of Twitter on a PC

Your PC offers probably the most straightforward way to log out of Twitter. All you need is a few seconds and a few clicks, and you’ll be successfully logged out.

  1. Go to the Twitter web client.
  2. From your Twitter homepage, tap the three-dot icon next to your profile photo in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Select the “Log out” option, followed by your username.
  4. Tap “Log out” again in the pop-up menu to confirm the action.

After completing these steps, you’ll be logged out of Twitter on that particular browser. As the pop-up window suggests, you can log back in at any time.

If you’ve logged in to your Twitter account on multiple browsers, you’ll have to log out on each browser separately.

How to Log Out of Twitter on an Android

Logging out of Twitter on your smartphone isn’t as straightforward as you might expect, as the option to log out isn’t immediately visible. However, this option is just a few taps away. Here’s how you can reach it:

  1. Tap your profile photo or the hamburger icon in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Go to “Settings and privacy.”
  3. Tap “Your account” under your username.
  4. Navigate to “Account information.”
  5. Scroll down to the red “Log out” button.

After confirming the action, you’ll be logged out of Twitter. Don’t worry—this only removes your data from that device—it doesn’t delete your account. If you’d like to use Twitter on that Android device again, you can just log back in.

How to Log Out of Twitter on an iPhone

If you’re selling your old iPhone or using the Twitter app on a corporate phone, you should log out once you’re done using it. After all, your Twitter account is probably filled with private thoughts and opinions you wouldn’t want strangers to see.

Follow these steps to log out of Twitter on your iPhone:

  1. Click on your profile icon in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Press “Settings and privacy.”
  3. Tap “Account” under your username.
  4. Navigate to “Account information.”
  5. Scroll down to the “Log out” option.
  6. Hit “Log out” to confirm the action.

Suppose you want to ensure your Twitter account will be permanently removed from that device. In that case, you can revoke the app’s access. Revoking Twitter’s access will effectively log you out of the Twitter app. Here’s how you can do this:

  1. Tap your profile photo at the top left.
  2. Select “Settings and privacy.”
  3. Scroll down to “Apps and sessions” under “Security and account access.”
  4. Tap the “Connected apps” tab.
  5. Locate the “Twitter for iPhone” app.
  6. Press “Revoke access.”

How to Force Logout of All Twitter Instances

If you’re worried someone might’ve gained access to your Twitter account, the safest option is to log out of every device connected to it. Fortunately, Twitter made it easy to do this all at once. After that, you can log back in only on the devices you’re using.

How to Force Logout of All Twitter Instances on a PC

Thanks to Twitter’s intuitive web interface, you’ll have no trouble logging out of all Twitter sessions on your PC. If you fear someone might’ve accessed your Twitter through an old device, do the following:

  1. Tap the “More” icon from the menu to the left of your homepage.
  2. Go to “Settings and privacy.”
  3. Navigate to the “Security and account access” tab.
  4. Go to “Apps and sessions.”
  5. Press the “Sessions” tab.
  6. Tap the red “Log out of all other sessions” button.
  7. Hit “Log out” again in the pop-up window.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll end all active Twitter sessions across your devices, apart from your current PC. So, if you’re not using your own PC, don’t forget to log out once you’re done.

How to Force Logout of All Twitter Instances on a Mobile Device

Any security concerns about your Twitter account can be quickly resolved by changing your password and logging out of all your devices.

Follow these steps to log out of Twitter using your smartphone:

  1. Depending on your device, tap your profile photo or the three-line icon at the top left.
  2. Go to “Settings and privacy.”
  3. Scroll down to “Apps and sessions” under the “Security and account access” tab.
  4. Press the “Sessions” tab.
  5. Click on the red “Log out of all other sessions” button.
  6. Confirm the action by tapping “Log out” in the pop-up window.

This action will log you out of Twitter on all devices except for the one you’re currently using. So, don’t forget to log out once you’re done with that session. You can always start a new session by logging back in.
